Bank to renovate cancer clinic

BANK of South Pacific plans to renovate the only radiotherapy and oncology clinic in Papua New Guinea at the Angau Memorial Hospital in Lae.
It is among 33 community projects is hopes to deliver this year.
The hospital has welcomed the support. It is not the first time the bank has assisted the hospital.
In Madang, the bank also plans to renovate and extend the Kuburne aid post on Karkar Island, 53km northeast of Madang.
The work includes the construction of benches for patients at the day care ward.
“At BSP we are committed, as a responsible corporate citizen, to give back to the people and communities and our focus is very much on children and youth programmes in education, health, sport and the environment,” BSP sponsorship manager Rosemary Mawe, said. 
“BSP as the only home-grown bank in Papua New Guinea truly understands that we have the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference where it matters most.
“There are 37 BSP branches nationwide and annually each branch delivers a community project after discussion with the communities and identifying areas needing attention and assistance.
“It is pleasing to note that the success of our community projects are the result of our staff who take time off on weekends and work with communities to deliver the projects.”
Since 2009 BSP has spent more than K2 million to fund over 100 community projects.
