Students condemn fee hike

UNIVERSITY of Goroka students fear they would be required to pay more school fees this year despite a government subsidy.
This is in light of a 10% increase in fees they claimed was recently announced by the university.
On top of that, the students are required to pay an additional 25%.
The students aired their frustration because they were expecting a fee-free year.
Their parents and sponsors were expecting the same.
A spokesman who asked not to be identified said the additional 25% the school was charging was unfair because the 10% should cover other expenses.
He said such an increase could spark potests.
