Vital to create opportunities for jobless

MT Hagen used to be a peaceful and safe place.
However, it is sad to see it fast becoming the place to avoid.
Youths from the settlements surrounding the city are harassing, robbing, threatening and raping innocent people, especially outsiders.
It is disappointing that law and order has become such a big problem.
The sad thing is all these activities are happening in broad daylight.
I call on community leaders, residents and police to engage these youths in something worthwhile.
All of us must work together to address the law and order problem.
If employment opportunities can be created for these youths, then I believe we can solve 90% of the problem.
With the multi-billion kina LNG project starting soon, I hope these jobless youths can be employed.
