Accused of stealing boat
A MAN accused of stealing a boat belonging to the Morobe Technical School at Voco Point in Lae on May 26 appeared for mention in the Lae District Court. Silvinas Immanuel, 23, from Usuhindari village in Sohe, Northern, appeared before Lae Committal Court Magistrate Tera Dawai after being charged with stealing a dinghy with its 70-horsepower engine worth K42,000. Immanuel remains in custody and is expected to appear in court on Aug 3.

Teen allowed K500 bail
A TEENAGER accused of breaking into a woman’s house at Gerehu stage one in Port Moresby was allowed K500 bail by the Waigani Committal Court on Monday. Justin Anthon, 19, from Sari village, Wabag, Enga, was read his charges by Magistrate Dessie Kaputin Magaru before she adjourned the matter to June 15. Anthon was alleged to have gone with three accomplices to the residence of Esslyn Unopo on Ganagaudi St between 3.30am and 4am on May 23 and stole a HP laptop, an iPhone and a tablet/phone from the living room.

Suspect remanded
A MAN who allegedly stole K13,000 from Flex Clothing Secondhand in Lae on April 25 appeared in the Lae District Court for mention. Orami, 25, from Obura-Wonenara, Eastern Highlands, charged with stealing, appeared before Magistrate Tera Dawai. Magistrate Dawai asked the accused to engage a lawyer and do up a proper bail application. The case was adjourned to Aug 3.

Accused of murdering wife
AN Eastern Highlands man, who allegedly used a bush knife to kill his wife, appeared in the Goroka Committal Court for mention on Monday. Soti Paul Gurumo, 30, from Ufeto village in Goroka, was charged with murder.
