THE Big Rooster fast food shop at Erima in Port Moresby was robbed by a gang on Monday, police say.
NCD Met Supt Perou N’dranou in a statement said a 21-year-old man was arrested in relation to the robbery.
Met Supt N’dranou said the suspect was allegedly among a group of armed men who struck the fast food outlet at around 2pm on Monday and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the till.
He said the gang held up the staff with guns and knives, took the cash and fled on foot towards 5-Mile and Erima.
He said police responded immediately and nabbed the 21-year-old suspect near Gordon market.
Met Supt N’dranou commended members of NCD police for their swift response which led to the arrest of the suspect.
He said investigations were underway with the emphasis of identifying and arresting the rest of the gang.
“We also thank Corporate Executive Guards (private security firm) for their quick response in alerting police as well as assisting,” he said.
