Men urged to join boxing

BOXING patron and former Kavieng MP Ben Micah has urged men in the country to join the sport if they want to express themselves instead of resorting to violence.
Supporting Oceania Fight Promotions’ (OFP) awareness on gender-based violence, he said boxing and other combat sports were great avenues to develop and practise self-discipline.
“OFP strongly condemns gender-based and other forms of violence in the country,” Micah said earlier this month.
“You are not a real man if you hit women.
“You are not a hero if you abuse another person.
“OFP is here – if you want to be a hero, please join us.
“We will train you and you can express yourself legally in the ring.
“Boxing and other combat sports are suitable sport for men and women.
“I want to encourage everyone out there. Please join boxing if you feel that you are strong.
“Boxing is the perfect sport for glory.”
OFP director Maryanne Millie also shared the same sentiment.
She said men should not take pride in hitting women.
Meanwhile, OFP will host nine local professional bouts at Crown Hotel in Port Moresby on Friday.

  • Excellent encouraged for the youthful and energetic. Where else can you release excessive energy in store in your youthful muscless if not expressed in the sport where you gain fame and glory. You respect and appreciate yourself and others by being the champion of self-discipline though sports. You respect others and others including your girlfriend or wife will return the same to you.

  • Also no boxing match with your girl friends and wives when you are disciplined. Good encouragement by Ben Micah for the young and energetic to ply your trade in boxing.
