Deployment will start
NATIONAL Pandemic Controller David Manning says a team of Australian medical specialists will start their deployment in Port Moresby tomorrow. This team includes emergency physicians, intensive care specialists, emergency management and laboratory specialists, deployed at no cost to the country. Additional countries who have said they would assist include Germany and New Zealand.

Venues should be closed
GAMING venues such as pokies culbs and horse race betting outlets in East New Britain should not operate, provincial controller Wilson Matava says. He also said there were no sporting activities as all venues had been closed.

Official: 74 in isolation
MOROBE health authority chief executive officer Dr Kipas Binga says 74 people who attended a recent workshop with the Lae case are in isolation. “No other workshop participants were displaying symptoms at this time as the participants were wearing masks and using hand hygiene practices during the course of the workshop for the last two days that minimised the risk of transmission,” Dr Binga said.

Public urged to remain calm
THE public in Lae and Morobe have been asked to remain calm as panic would not do any good with the confirmation of the second Covid-19 case in the province, says Dr Kipas Binga. The Morobe health authority CEO made the remark after the second coronavirus case was confirmed last Tuesday at Angau Hospital.
