Seven new Covid-19 cases recorded

PAPUA New Guinea recorded only seven new Covid-19 cases on Monday, taking the total infections to 16,398. The cases were reported in four provinces: the National Capital District (NCD) with three; Central two; and, Madang and Hela with one case each. Pandemic Response Controller David Maning said of the new cases, six were men and one was a woman, aged between 31 and 56. The country’s death toll is at 164 with 15,711 people having recovered from the Covid-19 and 117,373 people tested to date. The breakdown of cases is as follows: NCD – 5,076; Western – 2,385; Morobe – 1,175; East New Britain – 1,078; Western Highlands – 985; West New Britain – 997; Eastern Highlands – 699; New Ireland – 520; West Sepik – 445; Autonomous Region of Bougainville – 368; Madang – 392; Central – 263; Enga – 267; East Sepik – 230; Manus – 380; Chimbu – 225; Southern Highlands – 196; Northern – 196; Jiwaka – 146; Milne Bay – 161; Hela – 113; and, Gulf – 101.
