A COMMUNITY leader from Finschhafen, Morobe, is appealing to losing candidates in the electorate not to waste everybody’s time by trying to take the re-election of Theo Zurenuoc to the Court of Disputed Returns.
Kembang Takisieng from Tireng village, Pindiu, said that in relation to comments by losing candidates Giosi Labi and Robert Williong, who questioned how Zurenuoc could have been re-elected when he had done very little in the past five years as their MP.
Takisieng said he was not against court action but there had to be sufficient evidence of election irregularities before such action could be taken.
“Otherwise it will be a waste of time, effort and money for Zurenuoc and everyone concerned,” he said.
“The biggest losers will be people in the electorate as parliamentary assistance will have to come to a standstill while the case is going on.”
