THE Southern Region Nines tournament was not only used by tournament organisers to bring together the rugby league talent in the region, but it also provided the opportunity for bemobile Cup teams to scout for potential recruits.Several franchise scouts for the NCD Civpac Vipers were seen at the Lloyd Robson Oval watching some of the players who stole the show with their skills and speed throughout the tournament.
One of the Vipers scouts, who wished to remain anonymous, said it provided them a great opportunity to scout for the potential players, who they would keep a very close eye on to bolster ranks for the campaign next year.
The tournament last week according to the official had provided the opportunity for youth from rural competitions to show their skills at that level, it would be much better for them if they were given the chance to play in the bemobile Cup competition.
He said they would be doing their formal selections in their trial early next year, but by looking at the standard, the regional nines over the week unveiled a lot of talent from the rural competitions that needed to be developed.
