Sepik music talent on show

EAST Sepik province may not have a recording studio of its own but it seemed that some talented people had a promising future in the musical industry after they came out and performed during the Sepik rock show competition in Wewak.
Despite continuous rain, the Wewak show ground came alive when participating bands from as far as Angoram took the stage and entertained the huge crowd that gathered with their hits.
 Sepik rock show chairman Eddie Bradley said after observing each band’s performance, the youths were naturally talented musicians and  needed a recording studio so that they could support and promote the musical industry in the province.
Mr Bradley said not only did they organise the competition for both circular and gospel groups, but he had no idea why none turned up to contested for the gospel category and planned to carry out more awareness about the competition.
He said the province had musical history some 15-20 years ago and stopped, therefore, we need to support and promote Sepik musicians thus gaining recognition again in the industry.
 Mr Bradley said in this year’s competition, 15 groups registered and participated and hoped to make it an annual event in future if he has adequate funds or given any assistance from business houses and provincial administrations.
