Marum fetches K7,000 as Gurias raise K147,000

THE Agmark Gurias 2013 annual auction night last Saturday raised K147,700. 

The most lucrative player sold on the night was Kumuls fullback Albert Patak, who went for K15,000 to East New Britain Palm Oil. 

The company dominated the highest bids on the night again, buying 2012 Kumuls debutant scrumhalf Wartovo Puara Junior for K12,000. 

Gurias five-eighth Dion Aiye proved to be expensive, getting a K10,000 opening bid and eventually selling for K12,000 to Extreme Hire Cars.

The highest individual opening bid and sold to Maprik district, East Sepik, went to Bradley Simon for K10,000. Simon hails from Maprik.

The spectacular show of the night was the K1,000 opening bid for Gurias import Mark Mexico to remove his shirt by a bidder. Mexico did and eventually sold for K7,000. 

Utility back-liner Francis Paniu was bought for K5,000 by Extreme Hire Cars, Gurias skipper Ase Bo­as raised K8,000 and was sold to Warner Shand Lawyers and super coach Michael Marum was bought for K7,000. 

The youngest in the side, debutant, Tau Fitzgerald, 17, was sold for K4,000 to SAS (security firm), while Kavieng Razorback team mate, Sowei Waulas, 21, was bought by Ka­vieng Village Resort for K2,500. 

Sine Billy, 20, collected K3,000 as first on the bidding list, followed by Adrian Bongas on K1,000. 

Picked from the recent Trukai 9s challenge, Autonomous Bougainville Region five-eighth Duncan Go­lu earned K2,000, and bought for K2,000 by Rabaul Metal Industries (RMI) was Boas Ruru. 

Experienced campaigner Travis Waninara pocketed K3,000 from Warner Shand Lawyers, Guria winger Emmanuel Toide K3,000 bought by Esco Limited and netting K3,000 was Joe Bruno and Sakias Kabange. 

The 2012 Gurias most consistent player of the year Jacky Markus raised K4,000, while Chris Jerry, who has been with the team since 2009, cashed out at K4,500. Obert Hondole picked up K2, 600. 

Former Pukpuks utility Nelson Daplen – K2,300 and fellow 20-year-old winger William Akuila sold for K2,500. Emmanuel John and Doctor Danny Patrick each netted K1,500, K1,400 by Kevin Frank and Quinton Ragi – K1,200 .

The Gurias will host  a corporate dinner on April 27.
