STAR Mountain Eagles recorded their second win with a narrow 17-16 victory over Faiwol Country in the Tabubil A grade rugby league on Sunday.

A field goal in extra time by Eagles halfback Semi Pakalu shattered Country’s hopes of recording their first win in the competition.

Country had the win in the bag but just could not maintain momentum, giving away penalties and making poor choices in possession.

The slick Eagles backline roared to life in the first half with fullback Freddy John and winger Alua Kesa getting four pointers.

Pakalu and five-eighth GunaApa were the main engineers behind the tries.

But Country’s failure in converting a try came back to haunt them in extra time when Pakalu broke their hearts with a one pointer to seal the match.
