THE SP Export Lager Port Moresby Industrial Touch Association (PITA) is going from strength to strength to set a new direction in their competition this season.

PITA, under the navigation of prominent sports administrator Joe Yore and his executives and with the support of major sponsors SP Export Lager, drive towards achieving their ultimate goal against established associations in Port Moresby.

The association has seen the importance of the open women’s division after its success at the Easter National Championships in Goroka as grand finalists to Corporate Touch Pom.

For the first time another three female players in Emma Thomas, Jessica Kamano and Wyleen Thomas and PNG utility Vavine Yore were selected to represent PNG in the 2013 Asia Regional Championships to be hosted by Kuala Lumpur from June 6th -10th.

And in the men’s team are Dally Ilam and Benson Mathew. This is a breakthrough for the association as young Yore has the support of her teammates now.

This is a big task for these players to make the final PNG squad for the international meet with other quality players vying for the spots.

Yore is one of the key players and supports the women’s open division because it is a great opportunity to promote and develop and be competitive.

Yore said four teams were now competing in the league with players from Club Pacific MMI, Telikom PNG, TNT Air Cargo, Coffey International Development, National Development Bank, Eda Ranu and Water PNG.

She said the purpose of having this division was to develop and raise the playing standard of the women’s open players and help selectors pick players for the PITA open women’s division.

PITA is now selecting its players for the 2013 Masters and Seniors National Championships in Madang and training for a select side started at 5pm yesterday at the Sir John Guise Stadium.
