THE Papua New Guinea Football Association has deferred their Football Academy trials to Saturday due to the heavy rain last weekend in Port Moresby.
The invitation is open for boys under the age of 17 years.
The trials will be held at the Gordon Secondary School on Saturday morning.
PNGFA technical director Taku Niebo said he was happy to see lots of boys showing interest in the programme with 180 having registered last Saturday.
“The turn-out was very good. There were so many that it took some time to get everyone registered,” Niebo said
Niebo thanked Oceania Football Confederation technical director Patrick Jacquemat and FIFA’s Asia Pacific Football director Giovani Fernandes, both of whom were present to help run the trials for the academy programme.
From the trial 25 boys will be selected to be part of the academy programme.
The rest of the trialists will then be put on the Centre of Excellence (COE) programme and Development Centre (DC) programmes to continue their training.
