A MODERN lodging facility opened in Goroka yesterday.

Eastern Highlands Governor Julie Soso cut the ribbon to open GK Lodge, a boarding and lodging facility at the eastern part of Goroka.

Operator and owner Grace Kaupa led the dedication service with PNG Bible Church Pastor Garry Angopa.

Soso praised Kaupa for investing in a modern tourism facility, which she said would help boost the economy of the Eastern Highlands capital.

The governor committed K20,000 towards the new lodging house from this year’s provincial budget.

Kaupa said despite hardships she went through in putting up the new lodge, it came out well “with help from God” and the local company engaged to build it.

The lodge features a reception counter, conference hall, restaurant, single and double rooms, spacious car park and laundry facilities.

All of its rooms are fitted with TV sets, refrigerators, toilet and shower facilities and other amenities.
