THE Moreguina Community Corrective Centre facility will become a model centre for the country, according to Acting Deputy Commissioner Corporate Affairs Stephen Pokanis.

It has three cell blocks, a kitchen and mess, and can accommodate 60 detainees.

It will be manned by six staff to be transferred from Bomana. About 90 per cent of the work has been completed.

The six staff houses have been completed.

The cell blocks, administration building and staff houses will have electricity provided by a generator.

Acting Assistant Commission Director Southern region Henry Wavik said the Moreguina centre was bigger than the Giligili prison in Milne Bay and Manus.

The court house and police station are within walking distance.

CS Commissioner Michael Waipo appealed to Abau MP Sir Puka Temu and Central Governor Kila Haoda to assist Moreguina in whatever way they can.
