A FORMER graphic designer with The National has passed his condolences to the family and relatives of the late Yehiura Hriehwazi.
Hriehwazi, 49, died from a heart attack at the Port Moresby General Hospital early on Sunday.
He was a former editor-in-chief of The National and editor of the Post-Courier before rejoining The National until his death.
Michael Jinga, from Jimi, in Jiwaka, said he was saddened by the death of a prominent journalist he had worked under from 2004 to 2006.
He said Hriehwazi would be greatly missed by the local media industry.
He said Hriehwazi was a shining example of a great family man and someone who “comes down to listen to queries from his junior reporters when he was the chief editor of The National”.
He said Hriehwazi was an experienced professional who understood the media industry and worked without fear or favour.
“He (Hriehwazi) made sure his job is done and his professional conduct with the staff under him and what he has done will be his legacy and will be remembered,” Jinga said.
