GOING with the spirit of Christmas, the Sir Buri Kidu Heart Institute at the Port Moresby General Hospital was the happy recipient of K30,000 from the Malaysian Association of PNG.
Representative of the institute and Port Moresby General Hospital board, Kathy Johnston, was on hand to receive the cheque from the Malaysian Ambassador, Datin Blanche Olbery, MAPNG president Nathan Ho and other members of the association.
Ms Johnston said athough this was not the first time it received donation from MAPNG, the Heart Institute was appreciative of the donation and would use it to purchase new drugs and other needed equipment to effectively run the institute.
Another organisation which also benefited from the donation was the Port Moresby City Mission.
It also received K30,000.
Mr Ho said all funds were from the Malaysian business council charity golf tournament in September which raised K395,200.
Other charity organisations also received some funds from the association to assist them in their various activities to better the lives of many Papua New Guineans.
Mr Ho said of all the cheques they gave, Port Moresby General Hospital remained the biggest recipient with this year’s donations amounting to K160,000.
