Abide by oaths: Duma

STATE Enterprises Minister William Duma has urged members of six district procurement commissions that were sworn in on Tuesday to abide by the oaths taken to facilitate development projects.
The district procurement commissions were Port Moresby North-East (NCD), Rai Coast and Middle Ramu (Madang), Mt Hagen city authority (Western Highlands), Kagua-Erave (Southern Highlands) and Kabwum (Morobe).
Duma, who is Hagen MP, urged the newly established commissions to use their delegated powers to ensure development reached the district and local level government level.
District procurement commissions have a K2.5mil ceiling for projects.
Duma urged the commission members to be accountable and professional in their conduct.
The commission members from the six districts took oaths not to ask or receive any sum of money, services, recompense, or matter or thing whatsoever, directly or indirectly in return for discharging their duties and that they were only entitled to a salary or another benefits allowed under the National Procurement Act 2018.
