ALMOST 300 litres of paint valued at more than K10,000 has been spent on painting 25 bus stops in the city says Taubman’s country general manager Ravendren Kanniah.
Kanniah said bus stop painting is part of Taubman’s community project and branding activity in collaboration with Amazing Port Moresby to spread the message to stop graffiti and keeping the city clean.
He said they have plans to paint selected walls in the city as agreed by National Capital District Commission (NCDC).
“They have given a place for us to paint and put beautiful mirrors to stop vandalising, in the form of graffiti,” he said.
City manager Bernard Kipit acknowledged Taubman’s for accepting the initiative to partner with NCDC through Amazing Port Moresby.
He said the initiative was to repaint all the bus stops in the city to stop graffiti which was a big challenge in the city.
“Some of you who have lived in the city know that we have a lot of challenges and one of them is graffiti done by some people which does not reflect a good image of how the bus stops should look like.”
He said the future of the city was all about working together.
“I invite others, corporate organisations particularly, to come on board, bring your ideas and perhaps your monies as there are some areas, programmes and projects that we need to partner with in improving the city,” he said.
