Accident in Boana claims two lives, injures five

AN accident involving an ambulance along the Boana Road in Nawaeb, Morobe, on Monday claimed two lives and seriously injured three people while two suffered minor injuries, police said.
Morobe police said those injured seriously were at the Angau hospital.
The 10-seater Landcruiser ambulance involved belongs to the Boana health centre.
Boana health manager Justin Ruaming and his assistant were among the three seriously injured and hospitalised.
Morobe police commander Supt Alex N’Drasal said the incident occurred close to the Erap section of the Boana Road after its brakes failed.
He said according to Boana police, the vehicle rolled seven times before coming to rest at the bottom of the hill.
Police said two passengers at the back of the vehicle managed to jump off before it actually went off the road and rolled.
Boana district of Evangelical Lutheran church of Papua New Guinea (ELCPNG) is the host of the 32nd National ELCPNG Synod that was opened by Prime Minister James Marape on Sunday (12 Jan).
Supt N’Drasal said the vehicle that involved in the incident is very hard to be pulled out as it was very steep at the location of the incident.
The vehicle was travelling from Boana to Lae when it encountered the fatal accident.
