DOZENS of students caught at Butuwin, Kokopo, East New Britain, last October allegedly in the midst of cult activities, including using marijuana and homebrew, are still awaiting their court date.
The 81 students were released to their parents after paying bails of K100 (74 students) and K400 (seven) but no date was set, provincial police commander Insp Joseph Tabali said.
The students from four schools in Rabaul were caught by Kokopo police allegedly worshipping a youth believed to be their cult leader.
Of the total, 74 were charged with loitering and bailed for K100 each, one with possession of marijuana and bailed for K400 and six with possession of illicit spirits and bailed for K400 each as well.
The incident occurred at the Mamapua Beach between Butuwin and the Kokopo Secondary School.
