Acknowledge God as source of life in everything: Ribat

Faith
Sir John Ribat

IT is important to acknowledge God as the source of life in everything done on earth, says Cardinal Sir John Ribat.
Cardinal Ribat, when speaking during the vigil to mark the first anniversary of Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare’s passing in Port Moresby, said: “Love the Lord your God with all your strength, but with also with all your mind and soul.”
He said commemorating someone’s death anniversary reminded everyone that Jesus Christ Himself dwelt among the people. Cardinal Ribat said the occasion reminded us “of the truth and faith that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, dwelt among us, worked with human hands, loved with a human heart, cried with human tears, put on all things human to save us from darkness”.
“Three days after His death was the fulfillment of all the ancient prophesies,” he said. “Jesus Christ rose from death, destroying forever the kingdom of sin and death, which is why when of us dies, He comes and welcomes us as a good shepherds into eternal life.
“In the book of Deuteronomy, we read about loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and strength.
“Jesus tells us to love our neighbour as ourselves.
“As St Paul says, ‘Glory be to Him whose power working in us, and do infinitely more than we do ourselves’.
“Do more than we could ever ask for or imagine, love the Lord your God with all your strength, mind and also your soul.”
