SPOUSES of delegates attending the African, Caribbean and Pacific leaders’ summit had the chance to visit the Port Moresby Nature Park with the Linda Babao-O’Neill
The Zimbabwe president’s wife, Grace Mugabe, was also part of the group.
O’Neill highlighted to the women that the park was chosen as part of the activities because of its emphasis on community education, conservation efforts and was a “wonderful example of government, corporate and community partnership”.
The women said they were impressed with the facilities and variety of animals and plants PNG had.
Nature Park general manager Michelle McGeorge said her staff were honoured to show the delegation the bio-diversity of PNG’s plants and animals.
“PNG is currently in the spotlight as part of the 8th African Caribbean Pacific summit so for Nature Park to be able to showcase an international standard and  award-winning facility highlights the developments and tourism potential of this country,” McGeorge said.
The park’s conservation, research and education programmes were highlighted to the delegates’ wives.
The park will be hosting the World Environment Day in conjunction with BSP tomorrow.
The spouses had also visited a mini art and craft market where small business women displayed a wide range of products they produced. The market was organised by the PNG Women in Business for the wives of the delegates.
