THE Autonomous Bougainville Government acting President mand Minister for  Referendum, Veterans Affairs and Peace Patrick Nisira is visiting South and Central Bougainville to discuss the progress of peace building, good governance and economic recovery.

He said the visit was to foster the ABG’s intent on an all-inclusive partnership leading up to the referendum.

“The aim of my visit is to unify all factions on Bougainville through a legitimate and credible process,” Nisira said.

The ministry and department of referendum created the Trident Approach which starts with strengthening working relationships with stakeholders at political and administrative levels.

The Trident Approach looks at strengthening relationships, strengthening working relationships with partners and maintaining international interest on the referendum.

Nisira met with former Bougainville Army Commander Sam Kauona, leaders from the Mekamuifaction and women’s representatives from Central Bougainville.

He said the timeline for the referendum had already begun and there was no time for disunity.

He urged Bougainvilleans to put aside their differences and work to achieve Bougainville’s ultimate political future.

Nisira stressed the need for progress on weapons disposal, reconciliation, unification, standards of good governance and economic recovery.

Nisira said the approach undertaken by the ministry and the department of referendum would ensure that the outcome of the referendum was successful.
