Address law, order issues in Popondetta

Letters

POPONDETTA was once called “cowboy country”.
In Papua New Guinea, cowboy refers to rascals.
The term cowboy is a scary word that scares people.
Robbery, break and entry, pickpocketing and grabbing properties are common in PNG.
In Popondetta, these activities are just as other normal everyday activities for youths.
Northern is a good province with good people.
The Northern people used to say Oro.
The word Oro means welcome in their native language. Northern is a province of oil palm.
Cash flow in Oro is very high, unlike other provinces in PNG.
Because of the cash flow, many people came to settle in Oro.
According to my survey, Popondetta is mostly dominated by settlers.
The rightful landowners don’t live close to the town.
They live far from town.
Settlers never respect the landowners.
The town seems like a war field, especially in the afternoons and nights.
Law enforcement in the town isn’t effective.
Many mothers lost their properties and valuables on the road.
Shops and supermarkets are in danger.
Who will look into these problems?
Police officers are in danger as well.
We need people to address the issues affecting the lives of people.
We call on the Government to look into these problems and deploy police officers to settle theses issues.
