EAST Sepik provincial administrator Dr Clement Malau says the province can achieve its plans with the introduction of the communication infrastructure.
This follows the landing of System 1 of the Kumul submarine cable network (KSCN) in Wewak. Malau said the challenge was to translate them into proper policies and standards.
“The challenge is how we will be translating this into proper policies and standards for our province and hopefully if we do well, the national falls in also and learn from what we do,” he said.
“I believe that unless there is consultation down there, you cannot make policies up there.
“That’s why we get them the right evidence that can shape the nation.
“Those sort of things are now possible if we have the connectivity right to the rural areas. “It’s enormous for banking.
“I’ve mentioned briefly about the carbon trading project.
The people in the rural places know that there is carbon trading.”
He said they needed bank accounts.
