Administrators, PNGFA agree to sign MOU

EAST Sepik football administrators and stakeholders have agreed in principal to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) as a guide to develop the sport in the province.
PNGFA president John Kapi Natto said during a meeting in Wewak over the weekend that the MOU would help them fix the on-going football issues in East Sepik.
There are three entities — Sepik Soccer Provincial Association, the Sepik Futsal Association and Wewak Football Association — that claim to administer football in the province.
Kapi Natto said PNGFA wanted to see one soccer body run the administration of football in East Sepik.
“We can’t have two or three entities run football in the province,” he said.
“It would be impossible, and it would go against PNGFA, Oceania Football Confederation and Fifa’s values of good governance and transparency.”
Kapi Natto said the draft MOU would be sent to all three entities and the provincial government for their input before PNGFA’s legal team finalised the document.
“It is important to note that this MOU is a guide to help disgruntled parties to come to an agreement over the right path to move football forward in East Sepik,” he said.
He said if the parties did not agree, PNGFA would be forced to resolve the matter which included dissolving or suspending all the football associations and appoint an interim administrator to manage football in a given time frame.
