AFP help refurbish police station in city

THE Australian Federal Police (AFP) is helping to refurbish the Waigani Police Station in the National Capital District (NCD) under the PNG-Australia policing partnership programme.
AFP had been continuously supporting the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary with training, building office spaces, barracks and renovation of run down police buildings.
NCD/Central asst comm Anthony Wagambie Jr, pictured, and AFP officers inspected the Waigani station last week.
A scoping of the refurbishment is being conducted and maintenance work is set to commence.
Wagambie said the programme would see the refurbishmentof the Waigani police station followed by others in NCD.
“The aim is to transform Waigani into model police station of excellence as announced by Police Minister Bryan Kramer in Parliament.”
