Agreement to boost capacity building

National

THE Pacific Institute of Leadership and Governance (Pilag) and Department of Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs (DPLGA) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as part of the capacity building functions that they support.
The scope of the MoU will be implemented over a period of four years from 2021 to 2024.
Core areas of cooperation under the agreement were capacity building needs and analysis and training needs, design delivery and assessment, exchange programme between provinces and to learn from each other, financial and technical resource sharing and research and development.
Pilag and the department agreed to work together in providing competency skills and training DPLGA officers and officers of provincial governments and district development authorities based at the district level.
The agreement will set the pace of many significant capacity building initiatives within the department and across other national agencies and sub-national Government institutions. The initiative will complement DPLGA’s efforts in preparing provinces for greater decentralisation and strengthen the trust sub-national Governments and institutions have on DPLGA.
