AHI landowners are disappointed with the appointment of Noah Giali as deputy chairman of the new Morobe provincial lands and physical planning board.

The Ahi land mobilisation programme represents the interests of the Ahi people on land development matters and chairman John Ngandang said they were not happy.

Ngandang suggested that an executive member of the Ahi land mobilisation programme should have been appointed instead of Giali who did not represent their interest.

“This is politically motivated and we, the Ahi people, question the appointment,” he said.

Deputy Governor Morokoi Gaiwata announced the appointments last week in Lae.

The other board members are Allan McLay, Finkewe Zurenuoc, Jennifer Baing, John Nicholas, Effo Mare and Roy Kamen.

They will serve for three years.

Giali could not be reached for comment.
