Air Niugini appoints ticket sales agents in four rural areas

AIR Niugini has appointed four rural sales agents as part of an initiative to have the airline’s services closer to its rural customer base.
The agents are local business men and women in rural communities trained and endorsed by Air Niugini to do tickets sales and other forms of services.
This was also done in line with the company’s policy of engaging local businesses, says Air Niugini general-manager commercial Dominic Kaumu. “With local representation, people in rural areas including local businessmen and women and everyday people, do not have to travel long distances at significant costs and greater risks to get to a sales office to purchase Air Niugini tickets or services,” he said.
“They can access these services right where they are.”
The four agents will be based in:

  • Maprik, East Sepik located at Unidomet Business Consultancy;
  • Kainantu, Eastern Highlands at Jerutifa Services Ltd;
  • Kingku Stationary building at Kudjip Junction for Jiwaka; and,
  • Topoinz Ltd premises located along Kudjip-Banz Road for Jiwaka. Another six additional rural sales agents will be appointed soon across the country.

“If you are in Maprik, Kainantu, Banz or Kudjip, we would like to encourage you to fully utilise this service by visiting Air Niugini rural sales agents for your travel needs,” Kaumu said. “This distribution medium was developed specifically for you.
“If you are looking for best fares, these agents have access to our cheapest fares online.”
Eight agents, two from each project area, had an induction training including ticketing and reservations, online booking, customer service, cargo acceptance process and procedures recently in Port Moresby.
“The knowledge gained from this training will enable our ambassadors to confidently represent the airline,” Kaumu said.
