Air Niugini appoints two new executive managers

AIR Niugini has appointed two executive managers with vast experience to lead its IT and customer affairs departments.
They are Wendy Henao who will now responsible for information technology (IT) department and Peter Dokta for customer affairs.
Henao has been with Air Niugini IT department for 29 years, starting as a trainee programmer, and worked her way up to acting IT manager before her appointment.
“It has been a long, interesting journey and I thank our CEO and the management for having the trust and confidence in me,” she said.
“I want to be a positive role model for women in leadership and encourage more women to take up IT.”
Dokta started as a customer services officer and has been with Air Niugini for 14 years.
He has since progressed in his career within the airline’s ground operations and commercial division with appointments to domestic port manager’s roles in Madang, Rabaul, Alotau, Manus and Lae.
Dokta sees his new role as critical and challenging in maintaining and anticipating needs of Air Niugini customers.
“I am thankful to Air Niugini for the emerging leaders programme which has indeed contributed to this career progression,” he said.
“My focus now is to enhance the services provided by way of continuous improvement.”
Air Niugini chief executive officer Simon Foo congratulated the two managers and commended the airline’s emerging leaders’ programme for preparing more nationals take on senior management roles.
“With both Peter and Wendy’s wealth of experience and commitment, we are confident of them moving their respective departments and Air Niugini forward” he said.
