PORT Moresby Billiards and Snooker Association president John Chan yesterday announced Air Niugini, through their cargo division, as the major sponsor of their corporate snooker competition.
Association treasurer Danny Earles received a cheque for K10,000 from Air Niugini Cargo general manager Gus Kraus.
“We appreciate of the support from Air Niugini Cargo, as it has been difficult to secure sponsorship in these difficult economic times,” Earles said.
Kraus said Air Niugini was happy to be able to contribute to the sport and he looked forward to seeing some exciting snooker played.
In other snooker news, POMBSA will also host the prestigious Port Moresby Open starting tomorrow and ending on Easter Sunday.
President Chan said 24 of Port Moresby’s best players were ready to cue off at the Lamana Q Club, Port Moresby Country Club and the Aviat Sporting Social Club.
Chan reminded competitors to attend the briefing at the Q Club at 6pm tomorrow where they would receive their draws.
The final will be played at the Q Club starting 2.30pm.
