Air Niugini getting new aircraft

AIR Niugini will have two new Q400 aircraft arriving next month to join the fleet, says managing director Alan Milne.
Milne said the two planes would arrive in January and they would likely be serviced in early February before operating.
He said it was a great opportunity for Air Niugini as the Q400 was the best aeroplane in the turboprop class with its speed almost as fast as the Fokker jet plans, and it could still operate into small runways where the jet aircraft could not.
“We are pleased to announce that we will be getting two new Q400s back to the Air Niugini operations,” he said.
Milne said Air Niugini would not be replacing the fleet in 2020 but was making those plans now.
He said replacing a fleet of aircraft took time and the management wanted to ensure that they got the right aeroplane, firstly because it was a significant investment and secondly, they wanted to make sure the aircraft that was going to serve Air Niugini for the next 10 to 15 years was the right one.
