Air Niugini launches travel competition to boost tourism

Business

AIR Niugini has launched a travel competition called the “Discover PNG travel pass” through its destinations loyalty programme.
The competition aims to get all stakeholders, including the airline, hotels, tour operators and hire car companies, involved in sustaining and boosting tourism in the country.
The competition was launched last Wednesday and will run until Dec 18.
The airline’s general manager (commercial services) Dominic Kaumu said: “The idea behind the competition is to encourage individuals to travel more and experience the unique beauty and diverse cultures Papua New Guinea has to offer.
“The competition encourages individuals to take trips, visit a specific destination and take part in any tour activities to score.”
The airline said activities may include boat tours, cultural experience, diving, festivals, fishing, historical sights, sightseeing tours, trekking, water sports and wildlife watching.
In order to score, entrants must upload into their travel diary images of themselves participating in the activity, a copy of their e-ticket or boarding pass and receipts for accommodation and hotel booking confirmation number, tours and activities.
“All activities, destinations, and accommodation scores vary.
“The more activities participants are involved in, the more they score in one trip.”
Every month, three prizes will be drawn, the top three scorers will be announced via email/contact number provided on their profile and via Air Niugini’s Destinations Facebook page.
There are three grand prizes to be won.

  • That marketing strategy is a “band aid” strategy, very short lived and unstainable. You only fool important clients. You should look at reducing airfares, if you truely is serious about promoting tourism in this country. I have heard so much complaints about high airfares, high internet costs, high mobile rates, high accommodation rates, etc. Are we as a developing nation sensitive about such complaints from valuable clients or just taking for granted that all is well in this beautiful land of paradise, land of the unexpected with soaring prices of everything else. Its thumbs down for you the national flag carrier. Your several (3-4) trips to Singapore is a waste and uneconomical as I have heard from Singapore, big complaints about high cost of airfares charged by ANG, high hotel accommodation rates, etc are highest in the world. Olsem wanem, bai yupla baim rocket? Yupela ino fit. Promote trourism by lowering your travel expenses, subsidised by government so tourists can bring money and spend it on every other member of of our society from the villager to the hotel owner. This will encourage more tourism hence, benefit from “economies of scale” – less cost of transporting a unitof tourist but aggregate volume makes up your end of year collections. Common boss, make up your small brain and hint this advise, engage me to be your valuable adviser on business ethics.
