AIR Niugini passengers will now be able to travel directly to Fiji in the comfort of the airline’s Boeing 737 aircraft.
According to a statement from the national carrier, the direct Port Moresby to Nadi flights would start from Sept 5.
Air Niugini had previously flew a route to Nadi via Honiara, Solomon Islands, since 2007 which operated twice a week.
“The addition of our non-stop services to Nadi is the logical next step for the airline and will help to further strengthen trade and business opportunities between the two largest economies in the Pacific,” Air Niugini managing director Alan Milne said.
The new non-stop service will initially operate once a week and will complement the existing one-stop flight via Honiara.
The flying time between Port Moresby and Nadi on the non-stop service is just four hours and 50 minutes, saving almost three hours over the current route.
The non-stop flights would be operated by Air Niugini’s Boeing 737 aircraft, offering complimentary meals, beverages and in-flight entertainment for all passengers.
To celebrate the non-stop flights, a special introductory “Bula” fare is on sale this month offering a 60 per cent discount off the normal fare, and valid for travel until March 31, 2020.
