Airline increases Goroka flights

AIR Niugini flights from Port Moresby to Goroka have increased from 14 to 17 services a week – the additional three flights operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
According to a statement from the airline, this was in line with its domestic service excellence programme, and to provide more seats in preparation for the busy festive/Christmas period, the national airline had increased flight frequencies in its domestic network. The increase in domestic flights to certain ports was also because the National Airports Corporation’s airport runway upgrade was continuing in Mt Hagen, Tari and Mendi with Wapenamanda to start on Oct 9.
Direct services between Port Moresby and Vanimo have increased from two to three weekly flights, this means Vanimo now has daily flights – three direct from Port Moresby, one via Wewak and three via Lae, Madang and Wewak.
This also results in an increase in flights for the Mamose coastal services which link Lae, Madang, Wewak and Vanimo from two to three in a week.
A new direct service between Wewak and Manus started operating on Mondays, and returning from Manus to Wewak on Thursdays. Air Niugini now offers daily jet flights between Port Moresby and Manus – three via Kavieng, one via Lae, one via Madang, one via Wewak and one direct.
The direct flights will increase to twice weekly over the festive period.
From Oct 27, the airline will double number of flights connecting Lae with the New Guinea Islands, via Hoskins and Rabaul, from three to six services weekly.
The airline said all its flights were operated by Fokker jet aircraft, offering the fast and comfortable services.
With the changes outlined Air Niugini, together with its subsidiary airline Link PNG, now offers 495 domestic flights every week.
Additional services over the festive season will be provided subject to demand.
