AIR Niugini Limited has named one of their new Fokker-70 aircraft Hoskins in recognition of the importance of West New Britain in its domestic services.

The aircraft is the third of nine Fokker-70 aircraft to join the Air Niugini fleet over the next 18 months.

Air Niugini will also be the official carrier for the Papua New Guinea Games to be held in Hoskins, West New Britain.

West New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel said yesterday in Port Moresby it was significant as it would increase the potential for travel and the promotion of the province.

“The timing is also perfect to put West New Britain’s name on this aircraft when the province is gearing up to the 2016 PNG Games,” he said.

“At least 10,000 visitors, especially athletes and officials, will be coming to West New Britain from the 22 provinces.

“This is not a provincial event, this is a national event.

“It is an opportunity for us to show case West New Britain.

“Air Niugini as a responsible corporate citizen is contributing to this event and we are grateful for your support.”
