PNG Air is reviewing its arrangements with its corporate clients to finalise its fly-in fly-out routes.
Acting chief commercial officer Nancy Nakikus said: “The industry has dropped with sales and revenue due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The mining companies have restricted (travel), they have their new fly-in fly-out plans.
“Mining workers are not able to go on site, they want to keep the area sterilised for the Covid-19, so right now when we have the daily fly-in fly-out for the mining companies, we are doing rosters for every 14th day.
“We are working with our corporate clients in getting their workers in and out of the sites.”
Nakikus said the Covid-19 impacted the industry.
“We can’t really plan for the 2021 outlook because we do not know how long the Covid-19 vaccine is going to be ready,” she said.
“But we are starting to pick up confidence in our travellers as more people book to travel this month and next year.”
She said the next six months would see business prepare for post-Covid-19 with a clear indication in the New Year of how the market demand in travel was.
She advised people to check-in at the airport two hours in advance during busy times this Christmas.
“When you do book your ticket, please make sure that the day before or two days before you are to travel. Call up your travel agent to reconfirm flight because changes can happen,” she said.
