Aitape-Lumi needs a better leader this time

Letters

FROM 2017-2021, the people of West Sepik’s Aitape-Lumi have gone through a period of uncertainty and confusion regarding participation in the development of the district.
We have had three different district administrators that were appointed and served in this five-year period.
The current administrator is displaced and is roaming around in East Sepik’s Wewak town.
We have a political head that has lost total control of managing his electoral affairs in the last five years.
There was no project funded by the Aitape-Lumi MP Patrick Pruaitch’s office for the last five years.
Only two district development authority meetings were held within the last five years.
Not even a single resolution passed in these two meetings had been acted upon or implemented.
The people of Aitape-Lumi have been waiting to see basic services to be delivered but there is no sign of that.
The district development authority has not spent any money on any project.
The people of Aitape-Lumi are wondering about what had happened to the K50 million district service improvement programme funds that were received in the last five years.
How did the MP spend these monies?
The only occasion that made the people know that their MP was still alive and well was when his office purchased and distributed roofing iron and speed boats to his voters.
It is said that the distribution of these roofing iron and speed boats was one-sided.
Only the people in Aitape East got their share.
The Aitape West people were promised that they would get their share but this has not happened.
Those living in settlements in Aitape town were given priority over the people of Aitape West.
However, it was a waste as those Aitape town who received the roofing iron resold them for K40 per sheet.
The people of Aitape West, East Wape, and West Wape in Lumi have missed out of many things that came out from the MP’s office.
It’s a pity that we have a MP who is only concerned about the welfare and affairs of his tribe and the voters and has no concern about the rest of the people in the electorate.
Aitape-Lumi is in a coma.
The district is in a sick bed, confused and wondering if things will get better.
The district is waiting for someone who has the capability to lead and create positive development changes in the electorate. Time has come now for a change in leadership.
What is Pruaitch going to campaign for this time?
Don’t tell people that you will become the prime minister.
How can you become the prime minister when you cannot show leadership in your electorate?
If you cannot manage your district, how will you manage the country?
