PACIFIC Games men’s 400m gold medalist Benjamin Aliel is looking forward to running some good timing at the 2024 Queensland Athletics Championship which starts tomorrow in Brisbane, Australia.
Aliel, who is among a few PNG athletes expected to compete in this championship, said training was great and he intends to run a new personal best in the 400m.
“I will be competing in the 200m and 400m event. My 400m heat event is set for Friday afternoon and final will be on Saturday as well as the 200m heats,” Aliel said.
“I’m just looking forward for this year’s events. My main goal is to try as much as possible to run a new PB in the 400m.”
“For this championship, I know the Queensland boys are super-fast and I will be competing against some of Australia’s best athletes so my plan is to just stick with the pack and hopefully they’ll pull me up to run a fast time again this year,” he told The National.
Aliel said the plan was to improve each race and set a good timing.
