All contributed to the mess

I ADMIRE Belden Namah for his courage when he floated the idea that the general election should be deferred.
Many people criticised the idea and protested.
Some MPs argued that this would mean that they would be remaining in office illegally.
Lawyers said the move was unconstitutional and undemocratic.
Individual and leading citizens also opposed it and expressed their concerns on radio.
Daily newspapers carried online polls which indicated the majority wanted elections to go ahead or alternatively for parliament to dissolve and snap elections be held.
There were also external pressures with some nations threatening sanctions if the elections were deferred.
The point here is that, nobody from the prime minister down to the grassroots, should now be crying foul over missing names in the common roll.
Everybody should take some responsibility and stop pointing fingers at one another.
Everybody contributed one way or the other to the mess that we now have.
Everybody should take some responsibility and stop pointing fingers at one another.
My name was also missing from the common roll but I would readily admit that we should have done better.
Some credit should go to Namah for his foresight.
It is too late now for the electoral commissioner to do damage control.
