‘All is well in Alotau’

WHILE the focus of media publicity is on law and order problems in Milne Bay, it is business as usual in the provincial capital Alotau.
Acting Governor Tom Cameron, chairman of the Provincial Law and Order Committee, Pastor Peter Boena, and acting provincial administrator Michael Kape assured the people and business community that the provincial government was doing everything possible to restore normality in the province.
In a joint statement, they said the media publicity had caused adverse impacts for everyone, the situation was not as bad as it was being reported in both the national and international media.
“Despite the negative publicity by the media about what might be happening in Alotau and Milne Bay, the government and the people are united and in one accord,” Kape said.
“Alotau is safe, the people are moving around freely, all the shops and business houses, schools and public facilities are open and doing business as usual and our PMVs are running.”
