Allan hails dept’s Apec achievements

Two major achievements during Apec for Department of Agriculture and Livestock are the rice agreement with the Philippines and the grass technology agreement with China.
Minister Benny Allan told media yesterday that the rice farm at Pacific Adventist University (PAU) was a demonstration farm.
He said farmers would be trained on how to farm rice.
The grass technology is an agreement signed with China to revive the livestock industry.
“The first (achievement) is the agreement signing between the Philippines government and Papua New Guinea for the rice project at PAU,” Allan said.
“That paves way for investors to come and invest in growing rice in Papua New Guinea.
“The other thing we achieved at Apec is the Juncau technology.”
