A COURT has been told that a man who allegedly killed businessman Jeffery Paul Bull in Port Moresby two years ago is yet to see a copy of the closed circuit television (CCTV) footage being used as evidence against him.
Lawyer Bernard Popeu from the Office of the Public Solicitor, who appeared before acting judge Tracy Ganaii in the National Court at Waigani yesterday, said he was yet to obtain video evidence to show defendant Alexander Genia and get instructions from him.
He said this following confirmation by State lawyer Nathan Pare that the prosecution had submitted CCTV footage last week.
Genia is alleged to have killed Bull on Sept 20, 2019, at a property (Sect 55, Lot 7) on Sore St in Gordon, Port Moresby.
He is charged with wilful murder.
Judge Ganaii adjourned the matter to Sept 12 and ordered Popeu to get instructions from Genia and file a pre-trial review statement.
Genia has been remanded in Bomana prison since.
Last November, a committal court found enough evidence against Genia and committed him to stand trial.
It was alleged that Genia was last seen with Bull at the property on Sept 19, 2019, between 9pm and 2am.
The property is allegedly owned by Genia’s father, Allan Tan of Malaysian origin, and rented out to Solomon Tarrobal.
Genia is alleged to have told security guards who were manning the property to go and buy betel nuts and while they were away he allegedly had an argument with Bull over some unsettled and failed business deals.
Genia is alleged to have stabbed Bull multiple times with a pocket knife.
Bull was from Mul-Baiyer in Western Highlands.
According to the police investigation, Bull had allegedly been run over by his own vehicle, assaulted and stabbed multiple times.
The killing was caught on CCTV.
