HEKARI United will roll the dice when they face an in-form Galaxy outfit in their final group-A clash in the Oceania Football Confederation Champions League at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby tomorrow (3pm kick-off).
Third-placed Hekari will need to record a big win and hope the result of the other group match goes their way in order to advance to the quarterfinals.
It is a tough ask for the former champions but coach Jerry Allen says he still hasn’t given up as anything was possible, given the quality and experience of his players.
“It’s not over, we registered one point in our draw with Hienghene,” Allen said.
“It will be tough but we will try to work hard for a win in our final group match.
“If we win, we give ourselves a chance of qualifying for the knockout stage.”
Ladder leaders Galaxy are favourites to reach the quarterfinals, having defeated Hienghene 4-1 and were dominant against Eastern Suburbs for most part of the game before the New Zealand outfit fought back to force a 2-2 draw.
For the match between Hinghene and Eastern Suburbs, the defending champions have to win by five goals or more to give themselves a chance to advance.
Eastern Suburbs will have no room for complacency because if they lose and Hekari win, there is a chance the New Zealand side could miss out.
