ALLUVIAL mining lease holders in Wau Waria, Morobe have been urged to comply with mining laws when engaged in mining operations, says an official.
The Mineral Resource Authority (MRA) small-scale mining branch officer Enious Geyamuki said holders must comply with mining laws to operate alluvial mining operations.
“This will then enable you to engage in mechanised mining operations in your alluvial mining lease areas near Wau town or elsewhere in the district and province,” Geyamuki said.
Geyamuki handed over a mining license number 1066 to small-scale miner, Wifo Kikina in Wau on Monday.
“With the license, you are now allowed to engage in mechanised mining operations in your leased area at Mount Kaindi, Ward Seven, Wau rural local level government.”
He said Kikina finally got his license after waiting for some time.
His mining license was granted by the Mining Minister on Oct 31 last year.
“You and the others who owned a mining license to operate as small-scale miners are now bound by the mining laws, and are required to submit monthly reports to the MRA on the progress of your operations.”
