AMOANA coach Naime Kepi says he remains upbeat about his team’s progress despite losing both their matches in the opening two rounds of the Women’s National Soccer League.
With the worst defence in the Southern Conference, the Central side were handed a baptism of fire in their opening match when they lost 1-13 to Hekari United.
However, the Kaparoko villagers stepped up and were courageous in their 1-2 defeat by Port Moresby Academy at Papua New Guinea Football Stadium on Saturday.
Kepi said they had worked on their weaknesses after the Hekari flogging and were not far off the pace in round two of the country’s premier football competition for women.
He said they would work on their attack at training this week before meeting coach Percy Mataio’s conference leaders Genesis in the main match on Saturday.
“My players dominated almost 80 per cent of the game,” Kepi said after the loss to Academy.
“But unfortunately, we didn’t quite click in attack.
“Overall, my players are improving.
“So we’ll keep working hard and make sure that this weekend is a must-win for us.”
